Iran demands UN emergency session after U.S. strikes on nuclear sites

Following U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has urgently requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council.

AhlulBayt News Agency: Following U.S. airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations has urgently requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council.

In a formal letter to the Council, Iran denounced the attacks as “flagrant and unlawful acts of aggression” that violate international law and the UN Charter. The letter urges the Council to take swift and decisive action, strongly condemn the strikes, and use all tools at its disposal to hold the perpetrators accountable and prevent future violations.

The statement also characterizes the U.S. action as “premeditated and unprovoked,” noting that the strikes came shortly after a large-scale Israeli military assault on Iran’s peaceful nuclear infrastructure on June 13.
